Jerry: "It can't be done, huh?"
George: "The switch?"
Jerry: "The switch."
George: (shaking his head) "It can't be done."
There are many ways to arrange a date. You can meet someone in class and ask for their number. You can examine the "ward menu" and call someone from your ward. One of your friends can ask to set you up or you can ask one of your friends to set you up. The list goes on and on. However, no matter how you arrange a date, after the date has taken place there is a certain "dating code." The code is unspoken, yet it is expected to be observed. One of the principle elements of the dating code is known as "the switch." The switch involves dating one of the roommates of the person you are currently dating or were recently dating. I, as a participant in the game that is dating, have always followed the advice George gave to Jerry on Seinfeld and I have never attempted to break the code and attempt "the switch." That is--until I was "blinded," and the switch happened to me.
A couple of weeks ago I was set up on a blind date by one of my friends. The girl I went out with was awesome! She was nice and smart and cute and overall the date was really fun. I, however, chose not to immediately pursue. The following week I was set up on another blind date by one of my mission friends. The girl was fun, easy-going, and cute and the date was very enjoyable. Once again, however, I chose not to immediately pursue. When I arrived home from the second blind date, my roommates were asking me about the date and of course about the girl. The girl from the second blind date and I had just become "Facebook friends," so my roommates wanted me to show them a picture of her. The picture on her profile didn't satisy my roommates so they wanted to look at her other pictures on Facebook. One of the first photos that came up was a picture of the girl I had just gone out with that night and another girl who looked strangely familiar. The girl who looked strangely familiar looked really cute and I couldn't figure out where I had seen her before? My roommates, not yet satisfied, wanted to see a picture of the girl from the first blind date. I searched her name on Facebook (I know this seems like we are stalkers but sadly such conduct has become all too normal) and when her profile picture came up I was all the more confused. It was the exact same picture that we had just looked at from the second blind date's profile--The girl I had just
gone out with on the right and the girl who looked strangely familiar on the left! Well no wonder the girl on the left looked familiar! I had gone out with her less than a week before! And then I went out with one of her friends less than a week after I had gone out with her! Judging by her photos on Facebook, I am almost positive that they are not only friends but roommates too! I had pulled "the switch"--blind date style! I couldn't believe it! I thought to myself, "What are the chances?" Being a finance major, I quickly calculated the odds. I don't know how many girls go to BYU but the chance of going out with one girl and then going out with one of her roommates unknowingly is three divided by the number of girls at BYU. I only have two conclusions:

2. I am a lucky guy.

Small odds indeed. That's crazy!
